The Perfect Family Curry Night in Burnley: How to Order for Everyone

Tara Takeaway · 13 Rosegrove Lane, Burnley · Updated July 2026

One person wants a Vindaloo, one wants a Korma, the kids want nuggets, and somebody has to work out the order. After 20+ years of feeding Burnley families, here's our simple playbook for a takeaway night where everyone wins.

Step 1: Start With a Set Meal

Set meals take the maths out of ordering and are the best value on the menu:

Then add one or two extras for the strong preferences in the house - the Vindaloo lover gets their Vindaloo, and everyone else shares the feast.

Step 2: Sort the Kids First

Tara's kids meals come with chips, salad and a drink for £6.50 - Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Strips or Kids Chicken Tikka. The kids tikka is a brilliant gateway curry dish: all the flavour of the tandoor with none of the heat. Fussy eaters also do well with a plain naan (£2.50) and a Korma to dip.

Step 3: Balance the Spice

A good family order covers the whole heat range. A safe pattern for four adults:

Not sure who can handle what? Our spice level guide settles the argument.

Step 4: Don't Skimp on Sides

The sides make the night. For four people we'd suggest: 4 popadoms with a chutney tray, 2 pilau rice, 1 keema or garlic naan plus a plain naan, and one veg side like Saag Aloo or Tarka Dhal (£4.50). Chips (£3.00) keep the kids happy.

Step 5: Use the Order Planner, Then Call

Our website has a built-in order planner - tap "Add" on dishes as you browse, and it totals everything up so you know exactly what cash you need. Then one quick call to 01282 422 774 and your food is cooked fresh and ready for collection.
